(Changed to unlicensed Starbucks (more!) in 2002). Borders Cafe situated in Borders book shop. Of course, this is really a cafe which serves coffee in a bookshop, however, it is possible to buy a bottle of beer without any food. Beer choice is severely limited, but includes Budweiser Budvar and 1664, also Metz is available. Not a pub, but I suppose it counts enough to be on this list. In 2002, the licensed bar changed to an unlicensed Starbucks (the fourth in York!), so this cafe no longer counts for this list.
