Newly refurbished, with a wooden interior (opened February 2006, was a cafe on Micklegate, but was closed for a long time). They advertise themselves as a "Bar and Brasserie", although it's pretty much a pub (I think they stop serving food at 7). They sell a wide range of excellent quality ales and speciality lagers. The bar is entirely non-smoking. Market Town Taverns also run the "Old Bell Tavern" in Harrogate, which is well worth a visit if you're there.
